For the past weeks the Orange Walk PUP Town Council slate has been holding neighborhood meetings throughout the town. The idea is to hear the concerns of residents and at the same time the team shares the plans they have in order to bring development to the community. Last night the neighborhood meeting was held in the Pasadita Area where numerous issues where discussed and ideas were brought forward.

“One of the things that we plan to do first of all, in implementing technology, first of all starting with the work place, we need to give the staff that resource, new computers, good programs to start with, good documentation for all your data and we plan to implement the technology in various aspects, first of all the reporting, the websites, in these days we have of resource on how to share information, we have the internet and then we have face book, w have e-mail and we have different ways in which people can actually get information fast, before we had to get into our bikes and share that information one by one now you can easily send an email and the person gets the email instantly even on your phone, technology works that fast and that is how we want to work in this town.”
As for the question to the town council finances, Councilor Josue Carballo says there is money, but their ideas were never taken into consideration.

“For the past four years and half the East have been completely abandoned now we see last minute work being done but people in this area know that the drainage system has failed in this area, the lighting has failed this area, this area is increasing is expanding with now plan and we know that we will be taken for granted anymore, we need to stand up as a Belize road area and make sure that the plans we are proposing gets done, in the area particularly infrastructure and drainage there is a lot to do here, we need to put these two things together, whenever we plan as a council we have to start thinking that the drains come together with the streets and the streets come together with the drains in that aspect first of all we always hear if we have monies to work, if we have what it take s to get the ball rolling and I say yes, myself, Rosel and Kevin we have been a part of the council, although we have not been given the resources what is necessary to work we know that we are here because we see that there is what it takes to get the job done, there is equipment, there is money in the town council level, we get over a million dollars a year right now in transport revenues.”
The next neighborhood meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday February 7th on San Victor Street. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 7:00pm. All residents of the area are invited to attend.
