Road From Indian Church To San Carlos Upgraded By P.U.P O/W South Standard Bearer Jose Mai

Screen_shot_2012-02-08_at_8.12.33_PMSince last year, PUP Orange Walk South Standard Bearer Jose Abelardo Mai has been gaining political ground by listening to the residents of Orange Walk South and assisting in all ways possible. From education to agriculture Mai has been there for the people and this morning he proved once more that he is willing to work for the benefit of the Orange Walk South constituency by assisting in the upgrading of the road from Indian Church to San Carlos.

Hipolito Novelo-Reporting

In Orange Walk south, producers of agricultural foods such as onions, carrots and potatoes find it quiet difficult to transport their harvest into town due to the bad road conditions. In seeing that Agriculture is the main income earner of residents of Orange Walk South, P.U.P Orange Walk South Standard Bearer Jose Mai decided to take action and sought assistance in order to upgrade the road from Indian Church all the way up to San Carlos.

Jose Abelardo Mai- PUP OW South Standard Bearer

“Essentially, the people of Indian Church and San Carlos approached us and they said that in the last four years they have received no help from the government in maintaining the roads here.

Jesus Angeles is just one of the many farmers that travel on the road on a daily basis. Today he told us that the much needed upgrade will definitely benefit him, hundreds of other farmers and the entire south.

Win or lose come March 7th, Mai says he is committed to the people of the south and will keep working with them and for them.

Jose Abelardo Mai- PUP OW South Standard Bearer

“Jose Mai has always been here always I never left, of course we do not have the size of financing that the UDP have so we are still around and we are still here with the people and we will do what we have to do.”

Hipolito Novelo-Reporter

“What are some of the future projects you have in mind?”

Jose Abelardo Mai- PUP OW South Standard Bearer

“First and foremost, we must transform the agriculture sector into a more dynamic, competitive and efficient system, we cannot continue with the system that we have today, like I said Orange Walk South depends on agriculture and we must focus on agriculture, there are many projects we have in mind and we could talk about it the entire the day but first and foremost w must transform the agriculture sector.”

Jose Abelardo Mai- PUP OW South Standard Bearer

He is in government; he is getting $50,000 a month from taxpayers Money so maybe he should have been the one fixing these roads, again look at the farmers with their products out there, it is they who are in government so they are the ones who suppose to be looking after the interest of these people and they are not so obviously something is wrong with government, you heard how much money they gave away for Christmas, hams and turkeys and goodies, you could have used that  money and used it to the feeder roads. Eso es dinero que repartió $50,000 a cada candidato UDP, ese dinero se puede utilizar para componer estas carreteras, para componer los feeder roads, los sugar roads porque los cañeros no pueden sacar sus producto ahorita, but they are using it for political games so, I think that’s why the government is in seriuos problems, they have neglected the basic needs of the people, este gobierno está en serios problemas porque han abandonado las necesidades del pueblo y es por eso que nosotros hoy decidimos hacer esta iniciativa para que los agricultores puedan sacar sus productos de Indian Church y San Carlos.”

For residents of the area actions speak louder than words and money. That message was sent loud and clear today to U.D.P Standard Bearer for Orange Walk South Rosendo Chendo Urbina Sr.

Jesus Angeles, Villager

Today 5 miles of road was upgraded.
