On Friday February 3rd we featured the nine hard working women that make up the Carmelita Government School’s PTA. While they were engaged in a cleanup campaign at the school, the women spoke to CTV3 News about their plans to start up a feeding program for students of the school. They asked for assistance from the public in order for the program to become a reality and today the PTA received the assistance needed from a surprising donor.

Today the cries for assistance of the Carmelita Government School PTA for their feeding program were heard by John Mcafee. According to Secretary of the PTA, Nera Roaches the donation could not have come at a better time.
Nera Roaches, Secretary of PTA
“The PTA started this feeding program because we saw that there are a lot of needy children around Carmelita, some that live far, some that live in Tower Hill, some that live in the Old Road and some of them that really need it so that’s why the PTA came together and decided to have a feeding program.”
John McAfee is a computer programmer and the founder of the McAfee anti-virus software. Today, as he handed over the much needed donation to the PTA he told us that his aim is to assist those in need, in this case 100 students who will benefit from the feeding program.
John McAfee, Donor
“In all it is a very small donation considering the amount of benefit it currently give to all the children so I was very happy to do it.”

“Can you talk to us about the things that you donated to the school?”
John McAfee, Donor
“It was simply the stove and a refrigerator and some of the utensils.”

“Are you being able to put a price on the total price tag?”
John McAfee, Donor
“Unfortunately I was not involved in the actual purchasing of the equipment but it was a small donation in comparison to the benefit that it it giving to everyone.”
Nera Roaches, Secretary of PTA
“We are very grateful for it and us as the PTA and the teachers, principal and students we feel very happy about our feeding program coming a start but as you know this is only temporary this is the community center and also the hurricane shelter so we can’t use it permanently so we are just trying to use it for a while until we plea to the public once more for assistance so that we can transfer our building over there to the school yard so that the children are more comfortable over that side instead of coming out of the school yard over to this side to have lunch.”
The feeding program is set to commence on Monday.
