Blood Bath In Belize City Records Four Murders

Since the beginning of the year Belize City has recorded over 30 shooting incidences of which 19 resulted into murders related to ongoing gang rivalry. Over the weekend residents of Belize City were put on edge as four more murders were recorded, prompting Minister of National Security John Saldivar, to call an emergency press conference this morning addressing the situation. Well have that story in just a few but first to the murders.

On Friday April 20th, 2012, Belize City police responded to the first murder which played out at Mikes Club at the corner of Regent Street West and West Canal. There, police observed the lifeless body of 19 year old Orlando Reyes of #65 Tigris Street Belize City, with gunshot wounds to the left upper rib, right upper abdomen and left hand.  Initial investigations revealed that at around 2:00 on Friday afternoon Reyes and another male person were riding contrary to traffic on Orange Street when they were approached by an unknown male person who fired several shots at them causing the fatal injuries on Reyes.  Police investigations continue.

At about 11:20 on Friday night 31 year old Shelton August aka “Pinky Tillett, leader of the George Street gang was shot and killed along with 23 year old Kamille Andrews in front of Esso Gas Station located 2 ½ miles on the Northern Highway. When police responded to the scene they observed the lifeless body of both August and Andrews inside a white Ford Ranger pickup with license plate number C-39006. According to police reports August received gunshot wounds to the centre and left side of the chest, right arm and neck. Andrews sustained gunshot wounds to the left arm and arm pit, right breast and right rib cage. At around 11:00 that night both August and Andrews arrived at the gas station in the white Ford Ranger. August exited the vehicle and went inside the store. Upon his return to the vehicle a male person, armed with a handgun and wearing a dread hat and a mask over his face, exited a silver Pathfinder and fired several shots at the couple causing their fatal injuries.

The fourth murder occurred on Sunday 21st April 2012 at 4:00pm when a barrage of bullets rang out on Ceasar Ridge Road. When police responded to the scene they saw the motionless body of 26 year old Stevedore Peter Flowers Jr. lying on the sidewalk in a pool of blood riddled with bullets. Flowers had been shot 21 times- three times to the abdomen, three times to the right hand, three times to the centre of his chest, one time to the right arm, five times to the head, two times to the back, two times to the neck, one time to the left leg and one time to the right leg. Stevedore Peter Flowers Jr. was walking on Caesar Ridge Road when a black Toyota Camry car approached him from behind; the occupants fired several shots at him causing the injuries. The body now awaits a post mortem examination. Police investigations continue.
