While police are working to solve the latest murder in Orange Walk Town, they have arrested and charged the man who they believe knocked down and killed 46 year old Feliciano Patt this past Saturday evening. Yesterday 37 year old Elias Cal, a resident of Chan Pine Ridge Village, was detained for the fatal hit and run. Cal appeared at the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court where he was arraigned for Manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention, failure to report a traffic accident and failure to stop and render aid.
Police believe that Cal was driving a white Ford Ranger Pickup when he knocked down Patt as he was heading to work. Police have impounded the pickup. The vehicle has a broken rear view mirror, dented bannet and a broken left indicator. Police suspect that Cal was drunk when he knocked down the watchman from the San Estevan village and left him to die on the San Estevan Road.Cal was released on bail which was offered at five thousand dollars. |
