In the vicinity of last night’s gunshots and horrific killing were the residents of Stadium Street. Those residents expressed serious concern for the incidences of crime in Orange Walk Town today. They said they no longer feel safe, not even in their own homes. Resident of Stadium Street

“You have any concern in seeing that I mean shots were fired, you daughter just came out of the shop and something could have happened to her?” Resident of Stadium Street
“Yes, that was the only part that was worrying me because then it could have been that my daughter was in there too. But thanks to God that she was already home here, so that was the only relief I had.” Resident of Stadium Street
“Ahorita tengo un poco de miedo. Porque mas de noche then porque aquí está oscuro y embeces pasa gente así y no sabes quién es y de noche pasanmuchos de noche y de madrugada. Cuando los levantamos y espiamos es gente que pasa.” Carmelita Perez

“Si una luz porque esta oscuro, este pedazo da miedo.” Carmelita Perez

“Si por mis chiquitas porque yo soy las que la mando mas a comprar.” Residents say if police don’t get their act together, Orange Walk could become the next crime spot. To prevent that, residents asked for increased police patrols. Resident of Stadium Street
“They need to get more, you know get more police and maybe the BDF because to me they are only getting a salary only to sit down and relax and drink weekends, the BDF’ too. I think the two of them are supposed to do their jobs on the streets the two of them.” Carmelita Perez
