Police have in custody their suspect for Tuesday morning’s shooting in Corozal Town. 36 year old Donovan Franzua reportedly turned himself over to the Corozal Police around 6:30 yesterday morning after a wanted notice had been issued for him on Tuesday afternoon. Franzua is accused of shooting at 26 year old Omar Vellos. Vellos was shot twice outside of his business located at the Bumper’s building, at the entrance to Corozal Town. Reports are that Franzua had approached Vellos to discuss a misunderstanding they had, but while talking out the problems, it is believed Franzua lost his temper and fired at Vellos. Vellos suffered gunshot wounds to the left side of his lower back and the upper shoulder. After having turned himself in, Franzua was arraigned in Court for charges of Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, and Use of Deadly Means of Harm. No plea was taken and Franzua was remanded until the 8th of April. Police are yet to recover the firearm used in the shooting. |
