| Man charged for brutal murder in San Lazaro |

On Tuesday we had reported on a gruesome discovery in San Lazaro, when 26 year old Zaquel Vasquez was found dead on the side of a cane field road. Vasquez had apparently been chopped and beaten to death.The victim’s father had told us he believes he had witnessed his son being beaten on Monday evening when he saw a group of men ambusing someone, but he did not recognise that it was his son.
The morning after, he was told of a dead body in the area, and when he checked, it was his son. Following investigations by the Orange Walk Police, one man has been arrested and charged for the crime. Benedicto Tillet was arraigned in court today for murder. No plea was taken due to the nature of the crime and he was remanded to prison until April 14th. While Tillet has been charged, Police continue to look for another suspect they believe was also involved in the brutal killing. |
