Belize City, February 23rd, 2011

Kimano Barrow, newly-minted oil magnate, who was recently exposed for having been granted a major multi-million exploration concession for oil and other minerals in Southern Belize, is back in the grabs again.

This time it is he and his sister, nephew and niece to the head of the Royal Family, who are benefitting from a sweet deal.

The BELIZE TIMES has obtained documents from the Ministry of Natural Resources which show that the Barrows, also known as the Royal Family, are gobbling up huge tracts of pristine land in Belize – at a time when Belizeans by the hundreds are having their homes sold and auctioned off for being unable to keep up with their mortgage payments.

This latest piece of scandal shows that two members of the Royal family and a supporter of the UDP, Godwin Haylock, have been granted ownership to three parcels totalling 15 acres, just twelve miles from Belize City. The land is situated in the Montego Caye area west of Porto Stuck, just 5.5 miles north of St. George’s Caye.

The parcels of land, measuring 5 acres each, were surveyed on January 10th of this year, and by now quite likely already under ownership of the Barrows.

This latest scandal is another example of the high level of shameless nepotism that exists under the Barrow Administration.  While Belizeans can barely afford a small plot of land, and must bear the frustration of travelling to and fro Belmopan having to beg Lands Minister Gaspar Vega, the Barrows are so special that their requests are dealt with in a royal manner.

CTV3, I'd highly appreciate if you guys would update your website everyday. I am a big fan of you guys, I listen to Fiesta FM daily but the news section sucks. I live abroad and would like to know what's going on in Northern Belize.
I also like your new website.

Best Regards,
