An American national was robbed by two male persons who appeared to be armed with a firearm. John Owen, a guest at the Sea Breeze Hotel told Police that last week Thursday he was walking on 1st Avenue in Corozal Town when he was approached by two male persons of dark complexion. One of the men placed the object resembling a firearm to the right side of Owen’s face and demanded money. Fearing for his life Owen handed over $180, one Winchester brand pocket knife, one yellow lighter and his keys.

Following the report made by Coroza Police launched an investigation and detained two individuals identified as 43 year old James Locke and 32 year old Troy Berington. The men were detained after Police found James Locke in possession of the yellow lighter and Troy Berington with the Winchester brand pocket knife. Also found with the men was a lighter in the shape of a firearm, which is believed to have been used in the robbery.

Both men have been charged with handling stolen goods pending investigation, after which both may be charged with robbery.
