medinaOn Holy Thursday at around 9:30pm two armed robbers decided to target a Chinese store located on Zericote Street in Orange Walk Town. It was the typical plan to walk in armed and come out loaded with cash but things didnt go quite as planned for the robbers, who were both injured after an exchange of gunfire with a Chinese proprietor who had gotten enough.

One of the robbers, Miguel Medina, was shot on his knee and was unable to escape. The other, identified as Jeremy Rhaburn, was shot in the chest and leg and was detained by Belize City Police after he sought treatment for his injury at the KHMH.

Today Miguel Medina appeared at the Magistrates Court in Orange Walk, where he was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm. For the charge of conspiracy to commit robbery the case was adjourned to the 7th of June.

For the crime of conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm, the case will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for an inquiry for the case to be dealt with at the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Linden Flowers denied Medina bail for both charges but advised him that he can apply for bail through an attorney at the Supreme Court.
