On Tuesday we told about a special program organized by the Institute of Creative Arts Orange Walk in commemoration of Mothers Day celebrated on May 10th. The program is called “Honoring and Appreciating Our Senior Moms” and the name says it all since the program is all about honoring mom on her special day.

As we mentioned ICA Orange Walk has selected ten moms between the ages of 80 and 100 living within the Orange Walk District. Presently a documentary, which will be presented during the Orange Walk Town Council Special Mothers Day Program on Sunday, is being prepared on each mom.

So who are those special moms who will be honored for their great contribution to the community? Tonight we are unable to release all the names because it will ruin the surprise for eight of the moms who have not been told the good news. Today however, our news team sat with two of the mothers, Ofelia Jackson and Teodocia Castillo. During our interview with both senior citizens they shared some of their experiences with us.

We start with Ofelia Jackson who is 85 years old and a mother of ten children.

seniorOfelia Jackson- Senior Citizen to be honored

Teodocia Castillo is a very active and knowledgeable person. Today she told us how being a mom in this modern day and era is even tougher than it was years ago.

Teodocia Castillo- Senior Citizen to be honored

We will have more on these senior citizens in tomorrows newscast.
