gonzalezThis afternoon 19 year old Shamir Gonzalez was laid to rest by his family and friends. And while we are sure that there is no consolation to be had when it comes to the death of a loved one, this morning three minors were arraigned at the Orange Walk Magistrate Court in connection with his murder.

The three minors, a 17 year old, 15 year old and a 13 year old were all taken to court but we were unable to take footage. The media was advised that Magistrate Linden Flowers had issued a strict warning that no footage of the minors be taken. We were also advised that if any footage was taken the camera would be confiscated and the news team would be arrested.

The only ones allowed inside the court room were the minors parents and the Police. But after the three were brought out of court CTV3 News was informed that the 17 year old minor who allegedly launched the fatal blow on Shamir was charged for murder.

The other two minors, both standard six students of Louisiana Government School were charged for abetment to commit murder. The trio was remanded to prison until their next court date set for May 31st. CTV3 News understands that while the charge of murder allows no bail, parents of the 13 and 15 year old minors were advised that they could apply for bail at the Supreme Court.

A post mortem examination conducted on the body of 19 year old Shamir certified that he died as a result of ventricular bilateral hemorrhage due to acute lung failure caused by a blunt hit on the back of the head.
