pseWhile some Standard six students will be feeling some anxiety and concern tonight, a majority will be experiencing an overwhelming sense of relief that the Primary School Examinations are over. The first hurdle consisted of the Science and Language Arts sections, and today the second hurdle was crossed when students sat the Social Studies and Problem Solving sections.

The examinations represent a grading scheme for the Ministry of Education as it reflects on the effectiveness of the National Curriculum, and for the students it is an important assessment of what they have learned in 8 years.

Today we dropped in as we usually do to gauge student responses now that the trial is past.

Student- P.S.E

“It was challenging in Math and also Problem Solving and Social Studies.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“Any particular question you found challenging?”

Student- P.S.E

“No I can’t remember any question.”

Student 2- P.S.E

“Good, I only saw the Problem Solving kind of difficult the part about Ratio and Proportion.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“How long did you prepare for the P.S.E.”

Student 2- P.S.E

“About a month.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“Was it anything that you expected, more difficult?”

Student 2- P.S.E

“Yes everything that we learnt in class we got here.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“So you think you’ll pass?”

Student 2- P.S.E

“Maybe I don’t know.”

Student 3- P.S.E

“It was easy.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“For how long did you prepare for it?”

Student 3- P.S.E

“Since the ending of the other P.S.E.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

Any question that gave you a hard time.”

Student 3- P.S.E

“No.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“So you think you will pass with flying colours?”

Student 3- P.S.E

“Yes.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“Anyone you want to thank for helping you to be able to see the P.S.E easier?”

Student 3- P.S.E

“Yes my teacher Miss Soila Sutherland she helped me pout a lot and I think that because of her I did fine.”

Student 4- P.S.E

“It was good.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“Any question that gave you a hard time?”

Student 4- P.S.E

“No.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

So you were well prepared for this part of the examinations?”

Student 4- P.S.E

“Well yes.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“So you think you’ll pass?”

Student 4- P.S.E

“Yes.”

Student 5- P.S.E

“It was easy, not that challenging because the teachers gave us all the information necessary so it wasn’t that challenging I saw it easy.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“So you think you will pass?”

Student 5- P.S.E

“I’m sure with the help of God. First of all I did it with the help of God to learn these methods that our teacher had taught us.”

Student 6- P.S.E

“It was really easy.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“No question gave you a problem today.”

Student 6- P.S.E

“Yes one or two but most of them were easy.”

Yari Catzim- Reporter

“You think you will pass?”

Student 6- P.S.E

“I hope so.”

It is estimated that approximately 7,000 standard six students sat the Primary School Examinations this year. The results will be handed out sometime in June.
