The lifeless body of a male Hispanic person is tonight at the Northern Regional Hospital morgue awaiting identification. The body was found on Saturday afternoon at around 3:30pm when Police were called to this spot on the banks of the New River where they observed the body floating.
After retrieving the body, Police searched the body for an identification card or any personal documents that could assist in identification but there were none. The victim is described as approximately 50 years of age, Hispanic decent, short hair, medium built and about five feet two inches tall. He was last wearing a black floral shirt, jeans pants and black shoes. There were no marks on the body which could assist in identification.
Police do not suspect foul play as there were no signs of violence on the body, but no final determination will be made until the post mortem examination is completed.
Until that time the investigation is ongoing, and Orange Walk Police are asking anyone who can assist with any information in the identification of the body to contact them at 322-2022.
