policeToday Enrique Castillo had his day in Magistrates Court, charged with breaking into the home of Carmen Cardenas with the intention to steal.

Cardenas told Police that at around 1:35 in the morning her 15 year old son came to her room and informed her that there was a man under his bed. She says when she entered the room she noticed that two of the glass louvers had been removed and the burglar bar from the window had been broken. When she checked under the bed she saw a man hiding underneath.

Cardenas quickly called the authorities and Enrique Castillo was detained.

He was charged with burglary and damage to property for the offense, but when he appeared at the Magistrates Court he pled not guilty to both charges. Today Magistrate Linden Flowers listened to both sides of the case, after which Enrique Castillo was found guilty of the charges.

He was sentenced to five years for the burglary and one year for the damage to property. The charges will run consecutively, meaning that Castillo will serve six years as a guest of the Kolbe Correctional Facility.
