policeCorozal Police are investigating a report of what appears to be arson which occurred in the village of Ranchito. The victim is 31 year old Claudia Sagastume, a Guatemalan businesswoman. She reported that just before one in the afternoon on Saturday she arrived home and noticed that smoke was coming out of her house.

The 30 by 30 concrete structure was completely consumed by flames and nothing was saved. Sagastume told Police that she lost everything inside her house including a cabinet valued at $350, a lawnmower valued at $300, a sofa set, a bureau and $800 in cash.

An inspection of the building showed that one of the louvers from the back window was missing. It is believed that someone may have gained access to the building from there and set the house on fire.
