corozal_policeThree men were detained over the weekend after Corozal Police discovered two bags containing cannabis inside the vehicle in which they were travelling. On Friday night Corozal Police were on routine patrol when they noticed a suspicious green Toyota car with Belmopan plates on 5th Street. The vehicle was stopped and the occupants taken out and informed that a search would be conducted.

The search led Police to find a black plastic bag containing cannabis in the left rear door panel and another bag on the right rear door panel. The occupants were then escorted to the Corozal police station where they were identified as Delvin Retreage of a Belize City address, Gregorio Esquivel and Felix Esquivel both of Corozal Town.

The drugs weighed in at 865 and 678 grams respectively. All three persons appeared at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday where Felix Esquivel and Gregorio Esquivel were acquitted of all charged after Delvin Retreage pled guilty to possession of controlled drugs.

Retreage was fined $2,000 for the offense and was ordered to pay $500 dollars of the fine forthwith. He was given until the 15th of July to pay the balance.
