The letter states, and I quote I am seriously concerned about the manner in which a number of Belizean families were treated in the early hours of this morning…I find it unacceptable that children are dragged from their beds at 4:00am and are made to watch as their homes are destroyed before their very eyes.” Unquote…

Briceno continues to state that he believes that all efforts must be made to treat our people in a respectful and dignified manner, and reminds the Prime Minister that, and I quote you have stated that it is your mantra, the gospel of your party, your talisman that you display compassion for and protection of the poor. I call on you now to give meaning to this commitment by providing these homeless people with shelter and to use all measures necessary to find a solution that is compassionate and that will protect the rights of our people.”
