policeJuan Carlos Quintero, a resident of the Black-water Creek area, appeared in Court today on five counts of robbery. The cases are all as a result of reports of gold chains were snatched away from persons on the streets of Orange Walk Town between September of 2009 and October 2010.

Quintero is being accused of a robbery on the 15th October 2010 where the complainant Antonio Chable reported that he snatched her two gold chains worth $400 and $270. He is also accused of robbing a chain worth $380 off Carlos Carvajal in December of 2009. Camile Cuello also accuses Quintero of being responsible for snatching her $250 gold chain on October 2010. Carmelita Sosa and Victor Guzman also say Juan Carlos Quintero is the man who robbed them in September of 2009. All persons were walking on various streets when Quintero just rode up to them and snatched their jewelry.

Juan Carlos Quintero has pled not guilty to the charges and is expected to reappear for trial on the 4th of July. He was also offered bail today in the sum of $5,000, but so far he has been unable to meet it.
