irmaTonight two women from the Orange Walk District are waiting to be tried before the Corozal Magistrates Court after they were arrested and charged for the crime of theft.


Over the weekend, on Saturday to be specific, 27 year old Irma Lopez, Belizean domestic of Guinea Grass Village Orange Walk District and 30 year old Lourdez Lopez Belizean domestic also of Guinea Grass were arrested and charged for the crime of theft after they were caught stealing from Ueta Club of Belize located at the Corozal Freezone.


Reports coming from the Secretary of Ueta, 21 year old Melanie Chable, indicate that she was at the store when three women of Hispanic descent entered the store with their large handbags and walked to the liquor section.

Fifteen minutes after entering the store, one of the women bought two bottles of Absolute vodka and left the store, leaving her two other companions behind at the liquor section.


About three minutes later, the two women decided to leave the store and that is when one of the store’s female attendants searched their purses only to find two liters of Greygoose Vodka valued at BZ$128.00 and one liter of Zacapa Ron valued at BZ$160.00 in their handbags.


lourdesPolice were called in and both women were arrested and charged for the crime of theft. They appeared before the Corozal Magistrates this morning where they were granted bail in the sum of $1,500 which they were unable to meet. There next court date is scheduled for January 13th 2014.
