Yesterday the People’s United Party held a convention in the Belize Rural South political constituency to select its standard bearer to contest upcoming general elections. Three dynamic candidates threw their hats into the ring – former PUP Area Representative Patty Arceo, former PUP Mayor Baldemar Graniel and political newcomer Ramon Reyes Jr.
When the polls closed at 5:00 and votes were counted, Patty Arceo re-entered the political arena with a bang, receiving 950 votes. Ramon Reyes Jr. received 258 votes while Baldemar Graniel received 187 votes.
On Saturday, five conventions will be held in Belize City – Fort George, Albert, Lake Independence, Queen Square and Mesopotamia. On Sunday the convention for Belize Rural Central will be held and the final convention in Orange Walk Central is scheduled for June 26th.
