Moms and dads from all over town headed to the Banquitas Amphitheatre on Saturday night where music, games, prizes, and surprises awaited them. The activities were part of the annual mother’s day/ father’s day bash organized by the Hon. John Briceno and the Orange Walk Central Executive Committee.
The night’s activities included a little bit of everything - it kicked off with a beer drinking contest, garnaches eating contest, hot dog eating contest and a beso extrano competiton.
Prizes were also handed out for the tallest mom, shortest dad, thinnest mom, fattest dad and oldest mom.
One of the highlights of the night was the “Tornado” competition. The participants were required to hit the dance floor and wine away for the best tornado dancer title and $150.
The main prizes for the night were a stove for one lucky mom and a television for one lucky dad. At the end of the event Ursula Leiva walked away with the stove and Carlos Ceballos was the dad who won the 21inch remote control TV.
