belizeBefore we get into the main newscast tonight, were happy to report that the Belize national team blew away the team from Montserrat in the opening game which ended just minutes ago. When the final whistle blew, the score was 5-2 with the Belize boys on top. The first goal was scored by Dion Macauley in the 24th minute of play; in the 44th minute Montserrat scored to equalize. Then in the second half Belize got hot, as Harrison Roches, Elroy Kuylen and Dion Macauley scored in rapid succession. By the time Montserrat sent in a second goal in the 86th minute of play, Macauley had scored again and thats how it ended 5-2 as our boys get ready to head back home to play Montserrat in a home game scheduled for Sunday in Belmopan.

So the comments of the Prime Minister and Minister of Sports notwithstanding, we say kudos to the Belize national team which travelled all the way to Trinidad to make us proud.
