policeToday seven persons from the Village of San Juan walked out of the Orange Walk Magistrates Court freed of all charges after their case was thrown out by Magistrate Linden Flowers. On April 12th 2010, one day after Village Council Elections were held - Juan Blanco, Gregorio Sanchez, Ricardo Blanco, David Menjivar, Reymundo Blanco, Lorenzo Menjivar and Raul Witzil were arrested and charged by Orange Walk Police for aggravated assault, common assault, and harm. The arrest came after a brawl broke out between PUP and UDP supporters on the same day Village Council Elections were held. After investigations only those believed to be affiliated to the PUP were arrested by Police, allegedly on the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega.

Since then the case had been constantly adjourned, but today when the complainants did not appear in Court and the defendants were not served their summons to appear Magistrate Linden Flowers threw out the case.

While the defendants were represented by attorney Rachel Montejo the prosecution was represented by Sergeant Julius Cantun. Despite the fact that the defendants were not served their summons they still appeared in Court today accompanied by their attorney.
