Screen_Shot_2014-01-20_at_7.58.00_PMTwelve teams converged at the MCC grounds in Belize City to battle it off on the field in the 2014 National Primary School Football Championships. The event saw the participation of the best teams from each district and representing Orange Walk was a dynamic team from Trial Farm Government School. After the one day competition, these boys overcame all odds and brought home the title. This morning, the entire school celebrated with them. Here’s a look.

Dalila ical – Reporting

It was a sweet victory for the school’s football team and by extension all students at Trial Farm Government School. Coach Eber Patt said he could not be any happier and proud of his team.

Eber Patt – Coach

“We started playing against San Pedro and we won and then we continued playing against Toledo and we son as well, then we continued playing against Corozal and Cayo we won as well and then the last game that we had was against Cayo which we won in penalties, am really proud of the guys and they really played their heart and soul on the field and we did our best and all the hard work paid off.”

Their last opponent from Cayo, according to the young man who scored the winning goal, was pretty tough.

Brian Martinez – team member

“The game was very hard and we pressured them and we went to penalties and I scored the winning goal, I thought I was going to miss the penalty but I tried my best and I scored it. I feel very proud of Trial Farm.”

And Most Valuable Player Johnny Cawich says it was a good match.

Johnny Cawich – MVP

“They were strong, very tough, it was a good match.”

“You got the MVP for the entire game, how does that make you feel?”

Johnny Cawich – MVP

“Proud, happy, excited, it was something that I was expecting because I scored the most goals, four goals.”

Eber Patt – Coach

“It’s all about knowing when, where, how to play football.  My team they are the best of the best and they are the best in the entire country and we proudly represented Orange Walk and I am so proud of them.”

And it is no surprise the school is very proud as expressed by Vice Principal Marcial Toledano.

Marcial Toledano – Vice Principal

“It’s a big victory for our school and I have been here for many years and it is my first experience that we have won the national at this level.”

There was good representation from the north as Copper Bank Primary School from Corozal took third place while Santa Elena RC School from Cayo placed in second. In the female category, Richard Quinn Primary from Stann Creek took first place, Santa Elena Primary School was second and San Pedro R.C. from San Pedro Island came in third place.
