Screen_Shot_2014-02-27_at_7.40.11_PMOrange Walk Police are investigating a burglary that occurred sometime last night at Far World Tech located at the corner of Cinderella and Fonseca Streets. According to owner of the computer store, Sylvino Riverol, he estimates that the break in took place after midnight.

“A restroom from the back window, and we lost two laptops and we lost about four watches, some flash drives, DVD blue ray player, and a hundred dollars cash from the smart top-up.”

“But from the way things happen you still have a lot of valuable that were actually left untouched?”

SYLVINO

“Yes, that is what I notice that the person that came in didn’t had knowledge that we had a lot of valuable stuff in the stores, for example we had a lot of wireless routers, speakers, we had Mac computers in the technician room and none of that was actually touched not even the brand new printer that we have for display so it seems that the person that came in just saw a laptop and couple watches and that is what they decided to take so it was a quick and probably somebody that; a sprang head I would say.”

Riverol lost about $3,500 worth of items including phone cards. He says that the incident has triggered the family to take more safety measures since they were asleep in the house adjacent the business when the burglar or burglars entered.

SYLVINO

“The sales from the previous days were still in the cash drawer.  When we opened the drawer we were amazed that no money was taken from the cash drawer.  I believe that it is somebody that has come here before; maybe a customer of somebody that has worked in our yard or washed our cars so I believe that it is somebody from the neighbourhood that did this.  Yes that is what is really frightening but not scared and makes me angry for somebody to come in and rob our place when our building, our house is right next to the office and they are actually brave enough to jump the fence because our gates are not open during at night so they had to jump the fence to get access to the business.”

Dalila Ical – Reporter

“So I see you actually took some security measures and make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

SYLVINO

“Yes we actually have already closed off the window, we sealed it up properly and we added some lighting at the back and we also added deadbolts to the only door that we can access to this store at night.”

Police were informed and have responded to the call and processed the scene early this morning. Riverol says that while they have surveillance cameras installed, they were unable to capture any image of the intruder as the camera does not have night vision. Police are investigating.
