Corozal Police responded to a call around 8:00pm of a hit and run that occurred on 4th Avenue opposite the Rainbow Town Park. Preliminary investigation revealed that 18 year old Victor Casanova  was walking on the left side of 4th Avenue, pushing his bicycle while accompanied by 17 year old Yansie Iglesias, student of Finca Solana Area, Corozal Town, when he was knocked down.

Casanova reported to police that they were walking towards Corozal Town in a north to South direction when a blue pickup, traveling in the same direction, came from behind and hit him and his bicycle causing him to fly in the air and fall on the road pavement sustaining injuries to his head and abrasions to his right knee. Cassanova also complained of pain to the left side of his body.

The driver failed to render aid and drove away speeding off in his vehicle leaving Cassanova on the ground with his injuries. Casanova was taken to the Corozal Community Hospital for medical attention and later transported to KHMH. Police since have detained 38 year old Carpenter of Joseito Layout, Corozal Town, Elmer Zetina who refused to provide a Blood or urine sample for alcohol analysis in the presence of Dr. Andre Correa.  Zetina’s vehicle was impounded and he will be served a notice of intended prosecution.
