Dalila Ical – Reporting

It was about twenty minutes after three in the afternoon that a woman and her husband were driving up in the area when they came across Blanca Lopez who was dragging herself on the ground in an attempt to get out of her store, Joshwell’s Fashion. She had been robbed and was seeking help.

Lopez was shaken and with good reason, but she mustered more courage to tell us what happened. Two men, she said, entered her store while she was alone inside.

The men took the money but demanded more and this was when an already bad experience became terrifying for Lopez.

The men filled Lopez’s back pack and a duffle bag with clothes and assorted merchandise. They also packed in her I Pad, two phones and the cash. Altogether the men made off with approximately two thousand dollars in items and cash.

The entire heist lasted for about thirty minutes Lopez said and the robbers didn’t even bother closing the front door. No one in the other stores noticed what happened until she crept out with bound hands and feet. The police were called, responded quickly and processed the scene.

One of the robbers is described as a short Hispanic male and the second was a tall male of Creole descent. The men identified themselves as Belize City residents. CTV-3 News understands that just before the heist, the men entered SP store located across the street from Joshwell’s Fashion and were acting suspicious as they kept looking through the glass windows into the direction of the store. We understand that cameras in that store may have captured the men’s faces and police are reviewing that footage.
