Following the abrupt resignation of Laura Frampton Esquivel, Director of Tourism at the BTB last week Wednesday, Manuel Esquivel and his wife Kathy have also resigned from all their held government posts and appointments.
Reports indicate that this move is in protest of their eldest daughter being pushed out of the BTB. According to 7News, respected past UDP leader Manuel Esquivel resigned as Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister in a letter sent to him last Thursday March 13th.
While he did not comment on reasons for his resignations, it is of note that he confirmed to stepping down as government appointed director on the BTL and BSI boards. On the same date Esquivel submitted his resignation to the PM, his wife reportedly did the same and resigned as Chairman of the National Aids Commission. She has held this post since 2002 and told our colleagues at 7News that she was resigning for personal reasons.
Two terms former Prime Minster Manuel Esquivel says, he plans to now be fully retired. Late this evening we were made to understand that Prime Minister Dean Barrow has written a letter to former Prime Minister Manuel Esquivel. Reports are that up to news time the letter was on its way to Belmopan and has not been delivered to Esquivel.
