Screen_Shot_2014-05-29_at_8.29.05_PMIt is third term for primary school students and there is much preparation being done for those who will be graduating this year. But today the preparations for the students’ future started even earlier at Solomon’s Seventh Day Adventist School. It was a first time event for the fast growing institution and it was one occasion where our news team was able to take a break. Here’s why.

Maria Novelo – Reporting

Career Day – the time for these children to hear from the professionals on what it’s like to be a part of the work force and what their prospects are. Booths were set behind the school and these students flocked around every corner. Sheryl Distan is the school principal.

Sherly Distan – Principal

“We have like for the first time a career day here at Solomon’s school and actually we have like ten professionals here; surveyor, forecaster, pharmacist, journalist, Pastor, fire fighter and traffic officers.”

But there were so much other aspiring professional at the event…

Children

“I am a doctor, I am a teacher, I am a nurse, I am a banker, I am a teacher and I am a soldier.”

Our news team alongside Love FM’s Arturo Cantun set up booth on journalism. And we came across a few freelance reporters at the school.

“Brianna and yes I am having fun.”

And they came in smaller sizes too, And while they were off the subject, a few other part time reporters spoke with those in attendance.

“A doctor who saves people”

So, it looks like a promising generation, which makes everyone here feel hopeful.

Sherly Distan – Principal

“We always say that the children are the future and we need to help them to prepare them for the future so that they could be around as professionals when we are not there anymore.”

It was a first time event which proved a complete success.

Sherly Distan – Principal

“I’m just so grateful that is a successful day and the children are enjoying it and for he professionals who came out we are grateful also.”
