Screen_Shot_2014-06-18_at_6.20.21_PMBy now, you may have heard that the Circus Hermanos Ponce is in Town and for many youngsters it’s a rite of passage. The very word "circus" brings to mind vivid images of amazing acrobats, comedic clowns ... and exotic animals. But unlike the human entertainers, animals do not choose the circus life; they are kept in captivity and forced to take part in the show. Circuses that use animals are aggressively promoted by the circus industry as safe, fun, wholesome family entertainment.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. After the circus industry's glitter and glamour has settled, the animals remain involuntary participants in a degrading spectacle, performing not because they want to, but because they are forced to. With this in mind, we posed a question on our social media Facebook page where we asked our followers opinions and their take on the issue. The comments we received were along the same sentiments;

“Animal cruelty.!!! Will not assist nor take my kids”

“They deserve to be free in the wild. Animal cruelty ofcourse.”

“It's not fair! It is animal cruelty!! I never support these things. Not even sea world. If an animal can't learn a trick they are killed and another one is brought in. Unjust. How would u feel spending your life in a cage?

These are only a few of the sentiments shared with us on our page and Tomorrow we will go in-depth with this story and speak to officials about these practices and the industry in a whole. Stay tuned!
