no-photoThere is news emerging from the Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association today after they were once again audited by the Fairtrade officials of FLOCERT. The association was found with eight non-compliances but officials at the association refrained from commenting on the matter today. By checking compliance with Fairtrade Standards, FLOCERT ensures that relevant social and environmental standards are met and that producers receive the Fairtrade Minimum Price and Premium. If the association does not meet compliance certification, their benefits may be withdrawn by Fairtrade. We will have more on this story in tomorrow’s newscast.
