A few weeks ago some 200 residents of San Juan, Douglas and San Jose San Pablo were up in arms after they discovered that the parcels of land given to them by the P.U.P Government were being resurveyed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Up to date residents of the area have not received any notice that their parcel of land which forms part of a 200 acres piece of land purchased by the P.UP Government from Petrojam had been canceled.
Word tonight is that the U.D.P Government has sold the entire 200 acres of land to a Mexican businessman. But residents of the area are not willing to give up that easy and it seems that after a meeting with Orange Walk North P.U.P Standard Bearer Jorge Briceno residents will finally receive the assistance needed to fight the U.D.P Government. CTV3 News understands that Briceno will meet with attorney Jose Cardona on Wednesday July 6th in order to discuss the legal options of residents.
In the meanwhile residents of the area are advised to take a photocopy of their purchase contract and receipt of any payment made towards the purchase price to the Orange Walk Central Office located on Lover’s Lane no later than Tuesday July 5th. Residents will also be asked to sign their name on a petition which will be presented to the attorney.
