Screen_Shot_2014-07-21_at_8.42.23_PMTonight, a family from the Village of Cristo Rey in the Corozal District is mourning the unexpected death of one of their own who perished in a traffic accident on the Philip Goldson Highway on Sunday morning. Reporter Victor Castillo has the details in the following report.

It was a little after 6 am on Sunday morning when Ana Che received a telephone call, not knowing that at the other end of the line were members of the Police department with bad news of her Uncle, 43 year old Remijio Botes who succumbed to his injuries sustained in a traffic incident. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvette said Botes lost control of the vehicle.

“Yesterday morning sometime around 6am police visited mike 62 on the Phillip Goldson Highway where upon arrival a ford escape vehicle with license plate BZ C- 45968 was seen on the left hand side of the road overturned where upon further investigation it was revealed that the driver Remijio Botes was traveling from north to south direction along with three other persons when he lost control of his vehicle and overturned.”


CTV3 News was made to understand that Botes was on his way to Cristo Rey when reaching the village of San Jose he lost control of his vehicle which caused him to run out of the road slamming against these rocks causing Botes to die on impact. At the time of the accident Botes was traveling with his wife Vianney Botes, his 9 year old daughter and his 6 year old son.


All three passengers were rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital were 6 year old Emmanuel Botes was treated and release. As per Vianney Botes and 9 year old Gisselle Botes they remain hospitalized.

 

CTV3 News was made to understand that Vianney will undergo surgery for her fractured leg.


A post mortem examination is scheduled for this week.
