Screen_Shot_2014-07-23_at_7.45.45_PMA few weeks ago Guatemalan Authorities confiscated a cargo truck carrying more than fifty cartons of contraband cigarettes believed to have originated from Belize and this morning authorities hit the jackpot again.


According to today’s edition of La Prensa Libre, the bust occurred in the Municipality of Poptun, Peten. A total of seven hundred and ninety thousand cigarettes, smuggled from Belize into Guatemala were confiscated.

 

The driver of the vehicle 33 year old Guatemalan National Calos Humberto Rodriguez Gomez was detained by authorities and now faces criminal charges. The cigarettes have a value of three hundred and ninety five thousand Quetzals.
