Screen_Shot_2014-07-25_at_8.06.33_PMMexican authorities have confiscated 1, 400 liters of chemical precursors believed to be used to make synthetic drugs and have arrested four men, reports the Mexican press. The chemicals the reports indicate were smuggled from Belize. The Mexican Army intercepted the vehicle, a Ram 350 Van near the Pioners del Rio community located in the conflict zone between Quintana Roo and Campeche, near the border with Belize and Guatemala. The chemicals were being transported in seven drums.

The four men arrested were not armed and were identified as 28 year old José Alberto Ávila Reyes, 48 year old Ricardo Hernández Reyes, and Francisco Gómez Chanelo, all of José María Morelos town in the state of Quintana Roo. Thirty three year old Crisanto Zapata Zapata of the Pioneros del Río community was also arrested. The chemical as mentioned is believed to come from Belize and were being taken to Pioneros del Rio where Mexican authorities suspect smugglers have a drug lab and which they are presumably trying to locate.
