prison-1Two men from the village of Santa Martha in the Orange Walk District were detained by Orange Walk Police yesterday after they were found in the middle of a marijuana plantation. Today the men appeared at the Orange Walk Magistrates Court where their futures lay in the hands of   Magistrate Linden Flowers.

Forty eight year old Romelio Lino and 45 year old Raul Lino were charged for possession of controlled drugs after they were found in possession of 11.9 grams of cannabis. Since the prosecution did not object to bail Magistrate Linden Flowers offered both men bail of $2,000 each plus one surety of the same amount.

But even if they managed to meet bail the men were not free to go because this afternoon Police charged them for the cultivation of 5,000 marijuana plants. For that charge Magistrate Linden Flowers offered no bail and both men were remanded to prison until August 9th when both cases will be heard.
