corozal-police-stationTonight, 19 year old Eric Herrera is once again under Corozal Police detention pending further burglary charges.  Herrera was apprehended while attempting to break into the home of Reen Thadhani, a 46 year old Naturalized Belizean of 5th Avenue, Corozal Town.

When Thadhani arrived home, the individual was about to make himself at home as he had already removed two of the glass louvers from one of the windows. At that instance Thadhani shouted “thief” and that is when her niece and a taxi driver came to her aid. The driver of the taxi chased down the individual who was apprehended and identified to be 19 year old Eric Herrera. Herrera was handed over to authorities and was charged for the crime of attempt burglary.

And while Police investigate a number of home burglaries over the weekend, Herrera’s name kept popping up and so he was wheeled in for questioning. Officials at the department have recovered stolen items that were reported missing between Sunday night and Monday morning. Items recovered include a white HP brand laptop computer, a black Fossil brand wrist watch, a black DVD player, a grey tool box among many other items which were positively identified by Ahmed Hatem as his property.

The items were retrieved from a residence at 5th Street North, Corozal Town and the person, an elderly female, was under investigation. She was released from custody due to her health reasons.

Today CTV3 News was informed that Herrera was arraigned in Orange Walk Magistrate court.
