A former Police officer from Las Vegas Nevada, who now resides in Belize, made a generous donation to the Corozal Police Formation today. Eric Burson served as a police officer for more than a decade at the Las Vegas Police Department. Since his relocation to Corozal as a retiree, he has seen the necessity of equipment that police officers need while on duty. With that in mind, today over 30 top of the line police belts with hand cuff cases, flashlights and other equipments were handed over to Officer Commanding the Corozal Formation, Andrew Ramirez.

“We have been coming down here for quite a few years and decided to make this our retirement home, I am a former police officer and correction Lieutenant and we noticed that there was different budget issues down here just as we thought budget issues in the states and we gifted from my department, my officers to the Corozal policed department some duty gear to help them with their resources.”

“Value wise, what is the value wise of this equipment that you are providing?”

Eric Burson – Former Police Officer

“Quite several thousand dollars US”

Victor Castillo – Reporter

What are some of the items?”

Eric Burson – Former Police Officer

“Items such as duty belts, cases, flashlight, handcuffs, weapon holsters, radio holder, we like Corozal and we want to help out the community as best we can and the best way to help them is to help the police department do their job”

Victor Castillo – Reporter

“How do you see this benefitting the Corozal Police officers?”

Eric Burson – Former Police Officer

“Safety wise, for officer safety, the better equipment they have and the more equipment they have from any other resources they can get will help them do their job safely.”

Overwhelmed with the response, Ramirez says the items will be put to good use in the department.

Andrew Ramirez – OC Corozal

“This gentle man had been communicating with me via the e-mails and through cell numbers saying that he had brought and take up residency here in Corozal and he had observed the police officers basically walking with shortage of equipment and he believes that with some of the equipment that he had in the United States of America and he has no much more use for it that he wanted to gifted to a police department here in Corozal and no better place than Corozal which he had now take up as his new residence, these items will be used by the department, several items of good quality, leather to be exact, and it will be used by officer conducting patrols or especial operations.”

A total of 30 belts were disbursed.
