His accident never made it on the news, but tonight we are saddened to report the death of another youth from Corozal who passed away on Sunday August 3rd, while receiving treatment at the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital.
Nineteen year old Reiner Campos, Belizean Laborer from Halls Layout, was involved in a traffic accident on Thursday July 24th.
As mentioned, the incident never made it on the news as it was not reported in the police sitrep until today. What we understand happened is that at around 7:30 on the night of July 24th, authorities visited an area near the Villages of San Narciso and San Victor in the Corozal District, where they observed a grey Toyota Prado bearing license plate CZL-C-11766 on the left hand side of the road with its four wheels in the air.
At that time police were unaware of whom the driver of the vehicle was or if he or she was traveling alone. As police visited the Corozal Community Hospital they observed Campos in an unconscious state suffering from several injuries on the body. Due to his injuries, Campos was transported to the KHMH where he remained until he passed away on Sunday.
As for police investigations, they revealed that Campos was traveling on the San Narciso / San Victor road when he lost control of his vehicle causing it to overturn. At the time of the accident, Campos was travelling alone.
A postmortem examination was scheduled for this afternoon in Belize City. Our attempts to speak with Campos’ relatives proved futile as we were informed that they were all in the Old Capital waiting for the post mortem to be performed.
