Screen_Shot_2014-08-14_at_7.43.25_PMWith little over 7 months away from the Municipal Elections, the political engines are starting to get revved up in municipalities all across the country. When we sat with Mayor Kevin Bernard yesterday on several subjects, we couldn’t help but ask if he will seek re-election. Here was his reaction…

Kevin Bernard – Mayor, OWTC

“I have been asked this question by many people and definitely my answer is yes I will be running as the Mayoral candidate for the PUP for the next election.”

“And have you guys got your team together?”

Kevin Bernard – Mayor, OWTC

“Well, the PUP has set out its convention for I think it is the 13th of something of October we will launch our team and I can tell you that there was only one member that decided not to seek re-election and we have already been able to identify a candidate and a committee is dealing with that and so come October we will launch the PUP seven will be running again seeking re-election and definitely I believe that we will be victorious ones more come March the 15th, 2015.”

There are 67 seats available across 9 municipalities. While this season’s political campaign is notably much less fierce than the last, many expect the races in municipalities such as Belize City and Punta Gorda, and Orange Walk Town respectively the largest and smallest municipalities, to be instensive.
