Youth for the Future Belize is presently holding nationwide consultations with youth and different stakeholders for the development of a National Youth Policy. The policy seeks to establish a common vision for youth development and calls for the establishment of an officially recognized and empowered focal mechanism charged with youth development nationwide.

Here in Orange Walk the consultation will take place on the 8th, 9th and 10th of July at the Gala Lounge. On the first day of consultation a number of stakeholders that work hand in hand with YFF including BFLA and NDACC will be putting their ideas and concerns together. On the second and third day, youth between the ages of 15 to 19 and 20 to 29 respectively will be taking part in the consultation.

“We would like for youth to give their opinions and those opinions will be taken into consideration by the consultants. Basically we would like to reform the National Youth Policy so as to make it strong.”

During the consultation process a number of issues including health and education for youth will be addressed. All youth and stakeholders interested in forming part of the consultation are asked to contact YFF Orange Walk at telephone number 302-0051. The Belize National Youth Development Policy addresses critical issues such as crime, HIV and Aids, unemployment and education.
