Screen_Shot_2014-08-25_at_8.07.18_PMOver 300 young shareholders at the Saint Francis Xavier Credit Union gathered at the financial institution this past Saturday to collect their student grants. Each year, as a token of appreciation for being part of the institutions growth, grants are offered to each young member to assist with their back to school expenses. We spoke to a few recipients and the General Manager Rafael Dominguez.

Rafael Dominguez – General Manager

“We are actually giving a token to all student members who have qualified to a student grant and it is the fourth year that we are actually giving this gift of token to our student and this is what is taking place here at the main office here at Corozal Town.  It is a simple form that we give to our entire student member especially to the high school and we also have been able to incorporate the ITVET institute and the simple form application caters for the members to have minimum shares of a hundred and fifty dollars up to what was the ending of June 2014.”

“So with a hundred and fifty dollars in my shares I can get a hundred how much is each cheque is being giving up for?”

Rafael Dominguez – General Manager

“A Cheque of a small token of a hundred and twenty five dollars for each qualifying student”

Victor Castillo – Reporter

“How many students will benefit from this project?”

Rafael Dominguez – General Manager

“Today it had run to about 329 students actually. We want to encourage and a message especially from the directors for the student and parent to have that habit of continuous saving at the Credit Union so that every year these students can participate and get this grant and also we want to wish them the very best in their success of their studies.”

Recipients were overjoyed with the assistance offered by the St. Francis Credit Union.
