And although drinking alcohol is a part of the culture in many societies and many people use it sensibly, its misuse has become a serious and worsening public health problem. “And do you see a lot of complication due to the abuse of alcohol?”

Dr. Manuel Estrada – Medical Officer, NRH

“Yes we do see patients who come and they know that alcohol is their problem but yet they don’t accept it as such, they are aware that alcohol is harming their health but they are just in a denial state and then you cannot get help because first you have to accept that you have a problem and most of the person who abuse alcohol do not accept that they have a problem.”

“How do you classify the abuse of alcohol?”

Dr. Manuel Estrada – Medical Officer, NRH

“According to WHO one beer or 4oz of alcohol and above that you are already classified as alcoholism per week”
