The fact that a report of assault was made against Minister of Education Patrick Faber made headlines last night on all media houses. While the report was withdrawn a few hours after it was made by 25 year old Belizean License Officer at the Ministry of Education, Nickesha Polanco, the fact remains that Faber was initially accused of choking Polanco while she was on the bed in one of the bedrooms of his house located in the Village of Lords Bank. The incident transpired between the hours of 2:30am and 3:00am on Saturday while Polanco celebrated her birthday party at the Ministers house. The police report stated that Polanco was utilizing her cell phone when Faber approached her and requested she hand over the phone. When she didn’t, he choked her. The report further stated that Faber grabbed Polanco by her hair, pulled her off the bed onto the ground and dragged her to the corridor. He then punched her twice to the right side of the face causing her to feel pain.
As mentioned last night by Faber, the report was withdrawn since the incident did not occur the way it was reported. He further stated that and even mentioned the name of the individual he believes is trying to tarnish his good reputation. For context her is that clip.
Patrick Faber- Minister of Education
“I challenge any one of you to say where it is that this is coming from. It is coming from one Rhenae Nunez who is an avid supporter, fanatic, diehard, crazy person from the People’s United Party who seeks to attack the credibility of U.D.P. ministers and U.D.P. officials. You will see that this is now her trend from what had happened earlier this year with my wife and my marriage issues. It is now that she is trying to paint this negative picture which I will not allow her to do. The people of Collet of course are not going to view me any different because of this smear tactic because they know that is merely what it is…a smear tactic. And I’ll leave it at that.”
But according to Nunez, Faber is delusional. In an email she wrote to our colleagues at Seven News she stated and we quote “Certainly the ramblings of one who seems to be suffering from alcoholic dementia doesn't require a response from me. Get help Patrick Faber! Withdrawal of a complaint doesn't negate that something happened to Ms. Nickeisha Polanco at Faber's residence and that Faber was the alleged perpetrator.” End of quote.
Nunez further clarifies that she did not create the report; neither did she file it as is alleged by Faber. She states and we quote “The report was sent to me by police who are frustrated with the behavior of persons such as yourself who act with impunity.” Close quote.
And since Faber called her crazy, Nunez responded to him by stating “Only a "crazy" man who is married and is a member of parliament and a member of cabinet engages in an inappropriate relationship with a member of his staff. Only a "crazy" man such as yourself demands the property of a young woman and beats up upon her because she refuses to hand it over.”
It is of note that the police report also stated that Faber assaulted another female that was at the party.
