policeTwo persons from Carmelita are currently on trial at the Orange Walk Magistrates Court for the offense of keeping an unlicensed firearm. The first case dates back to November of 2009 when Loren Wade was arrested by Police after a search at his residence turned up a homemade .22 calibre firearm with eleven rounds of .22 calibre ammunition. As a result Loren Wade was charged with the offenses of keeping an unlicensed firearm and unlicensed ammunition.

Wades case has already started but has been adjourned to the 26th of July. Loren Wade appeared today unrepresented.

The second person from Carmelita who appeared today to face charges at the Orange Walk Magistrates Court is a 17 year old minor is accused of keeping an unlicensed firearm. In September of last year Orange Walk Police searched the residence of the 17 year old minor where they found a homemade 12 gauge shotgun.

The minor pled not guilty to the charge and he is presently on trial. Today his matter was adjourned to the 19th of July.
