Screen_Shot_2014-09-23_at_8.33.19_PMOrange Walk Police continue their investigation into the shooting that occurred on Friday near the Northern Regional Hospital. In our Friday Newscast, we told you about the fate of a thirty year old man who, along with another male person, robbed a Chinese grocery store but ended up being shot and killed. Police were called about three Friday afternoon and by the time they arrived, the body of thirty year old Leslie Kenrick Logan was being carted away by employees of the Northern Regional to the hospital. It appears that Logan, accompanied by another male of creole descent, robbed Hung Yun Store located at #2 Otro Benque Road at gun point. The men looted five hundred dollars in cash and two cell phones to a total value of $1,075. That however, was not the end of their heist as things took an unprecedented turn for the duo. Deputy Commander of the Orange Walk Police Formation, Inspector Selvin Tillett told us more about the incident.

Inspector Selvin Tillett

“The one armed with the weapon pointed the firearm to the female attendant, pushed her behind the counter, and took an undisclosed amount of money and handed to the other person who ran away and during the ordeal the owner of the said establishment fired several shots to the culprit and as a result he succumbed to his injuries up to this date a post mortem was conducted to and the cause of death a due to multiple gunshots wounds.”

Dalila Ical – Reporter

“You saying that one shot hit him under his armpit but the port mortem just said or indicated multiple gunshot wounds was he hit in other placed in his body?”

Inspector Selvin Tillett

“Left side of his body”

Dalila Ical – Reporter

“How many shots?”

Inspector Selvin Tillett

“About four if I am not mistaken”

Dalila Ical – Reporter

“The allegation is that the body of the individual was found a few feet outside the establishment could you establish how he got there?”

Inspector Selvin Tillett

“As I said police are still currently in the investigation at this moment so I won’t comment on that at this moment.”

Dalila Ical – Reporter

“There are indications that some family member and people around that the proprietor of the store shot him ones hit him and the individual run away and the proprietor approach him and in cold blood point blank continue shooting the individual does police have anything to indicate such allegations?”

Inspector Selvin Tillett

“As I said these are allegations and police are looking at all angles.”

Dalila Ical – Reporter

“The person who was armed was the individual who was hit?”

Inspector Selvin Tillett

“That is the same individual and the fire arm was found on top of his waist a 9mm.”

Dalila Ical – Reporter

“How about the second individual mentioned here is there any lead as to who he is?”

Inspector Selvin Tillett

“No arrest made so far but police are looking for that person at this moment.”

Police have identified the second man involved in the heist. The proprietor of the store, Lie Wen Lee, who has given police a caution statement, used his licensed nine millimeter pistol to fire at Logan.

According to the police official report, Lee followed the men and when Logan made a motion to pull something from his past waist he fired several shots in his direction hitting him on the right side of the body causing him to collapse on the street. Leslie Kenrick Logan is of a Santa Familia Street address, Orange Walk Town.

Police have since retrieved one 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eleven 9mm live rounds from the owner of the establishment. Lee is not currently in police custody as directed by the office of the Director of Public Prosecution and authorities here are waiting on directives from that office to proceed on any charges levied against him.
