Victor Castillo – Reporting

Shortly after 3pm, the blue machines were in high gear as they passed the main streets of Patchakan village making their way to the central park for the official ceremony of the Peoples United Party’s 64th Anniversary.  Standard bearer for the Corozal North constituency, David Castillo told us more about the party’s milestone.

David Castillo – Std. bearer Corozal North.

“We have the four from Corozal; myself and the other PUP representatives and likewise in Orange Walk and the four honorable from the South, Toledo and Stann creek and likewise we have our national party chairman, Mr. Henry Usher.”

Hon. Mike Espat – Toledo East

“Without the vision of the honorable George Price we would not be celebrating here today and yet we have a government made up of the United Democratic Party of people who did not support the Independence of Belize but yet they are governing an Independent Belize like dictators, that is what we have in this country today a bunch of politicians that has no respect for the laws of this country and the simple reason is that they were not a part of it, they were not a part of it and that is why they do not respect the laws of this country.”

Hon. Oscar Requena – Toledo West

“El PUP tiene 64 años de historia, de trayectoria, de trabajo para este país bajo el liderazgo del honorable George Price y el Partido Unido de Pueblo y que Viva el PUP… Estamos aquí como compañeros acompañando el señor David Castillo y estamos para darle el apoyo y sinceramente yo les quiero decir de que siento la energía esta tarde, siento la esperanza aquí en Patchakan de que el Partido Unido del Pueblo va hacer el otro gobierno cuando Dean Barrow decida llamar las elecciones.”

Gregorio Papas Garcia – Std. Bearer Corozal Bay

“Estamos celebrando 64 años de este Partido, 64 años de un partido de desarrollo un partido que nos ha dado mucho que ser orgullosos como PUP’s y un partido que seguirá luchando para la gente de Belice.”

According to Castillo despite the mishap a couple weeks ago with the rental of the venue, the message brought out on Saturdays rally was a clear.

David Castillo – Std. Bearer Corozal north

“Well we are certainly are united and we are working in moving forward for one cause, one objective in bringing the PUP back to government and to bring betterment for our people and under this government as you know one of the most difficult of times, the highest unemployment rate, the people especially the young ones do not have opportunities and so we are united for the betterment of Corozal District and in a whole the country of Belize.”

During the ceremonies the Corozal Marching band entertained the spectators.

Immediately after the ceremonies, guests were invited to a reception outside of the formalities. Meanwhile, villagers and party supporters were entertained by a dance which featured the Techno Band.
