Carlos Keme, he is better known as (Zorro) and was accused for the murder of his girlfriend back in 2009. After five years behind bars, his case was finally on trial but it turns out that the case will be retried.
Right about now you might be asking why since Keme confessed to killing Karina Daniels even during an exchange of words we had with him while coming out of court on the day he was charged for murder. Details into the case are still sketchy but we understand that Keme entered a plea of guilty for the lesser charge of manslaughter in the Supreme Court on Monday in Orange Walk.
The sentencing was then set for later this month but then Keme reportedly changed his plea to not guilty and hence why the case is now going to a re-trial.
The retrial date is yet to be set. For context, Carlos Keme is accused of strangling his girlfriend Karina Daniels in October of 2009. Her nude body was found in an over grown abandoned lot in Orange Walk Town. Police observed marks on Daniels’ neck which indicated that she had been strangled. Keme fled the country after the incident but was captured nine days after in Chetumal City, Mexico. He was reportedly picked up by Mexican Authorities near a park. At the time of her death Daniels was 29 years old. Of note is that Keme also managed to escape from police once while he was being escorted to the Orange Walk Magistrates Court. This is after he was charged for Daniels’ murder.
